Led by Coach Nev, Recruiting 101 is a self-paced online course designed to help athletes and families understand the recruiting process—without the stress or confusion. Whether you're just getting started or already reaching out to schools, this course gives you the tools to take control of your recruiting path.

Serving Clinic: Standing Float & Jump Float: Build a more confident, consistent, and powerful serve—on your own time

This on-demand video course, led by Coach Nev, breaks down every element of serving to help you develop accuracy, power, and confidence. With a focus on both the standing float and jump float serve, this course is perfect for athletes who want to improve technique, elevate consistency, and gain an edge behind the service line. All drills can be done at home or in the gym—no fancy equipment required.

Volleyball Setting Free starter course

Setter Starter is your go-to online course for athletes looking to build a strong foundation in the setting position. Whether you're brand new to setting or looking to tighten up your fundamentals, this course walks athletes through proper hand positioning, footwork, movement patterns, and setting mechanics—step-by-step.

Led by Coach Nev, this course is perfect for players who want to grow their IQ, gain confidence, and get extra reps on their own time.

Volleyball Passing 101 (Beginner-to-Intermediate)

This program is built for athletes of all ages from beginner to intermediate skill levels. With three one-hour lessons, you will learn to focus on your platform as well as basic passing ball control.

Volleyball Hitting 101 (Beginner-to-Intermediate)

If you need to work on your fundamental volleyball hitting skills, Coach Nev will teach you three of the most important things to master: your hitting approach, the ideal point of contact, and your wrist snap.

Volleyball Setting 101 (Beginner-to-Intermediate)

Packed with 12 different setting workouts, Block Out Academy’s volleyball setting training program will help you improve your hand positioning, learn better ball control, and help you eliminate more of your ball-handling errors.

Standing Float Serve Volleyball Workout (Beginner-to-Advanced)

The standing float is an essential skill for advanced volleyball players but even beginner athletes can start to add this to their skillset. Coach Nev will walk you through ideal arm position, techniques to master your toss, what to perfect about ball contact, and other critical parts of this technique.

Volleyball Tryout Drills (Beginner-to-Intermediate)

Volleyball athletes of all ability and experience levels continually need flexibility and mobility work to stay in top shape and help avoid injuries! Block Out Academy’s flexibility and mobility training will help you:

  • alleviate muscle tightness, inflammation, and soreness

  • reduce your overall stress

  • help you expand the range of motion in your joints

Knee Injury Prevention Program

Our four-part series will help anyone suffering from knee valgus, knock knees, and a lack of overall knee stability. These easy-to-follow workouts can be completed in less than 10 minutes, and they support the musculature that can prevent knee valgus and develop healthier knee movement. 

 

Volleyball Workouts at Home with a Veteran Coach: Nevena Taylor

Coach Nev is a Serbian-born former professional and college volleyball player. She moved to the United States after receiving a full athletic scholarship at University of Alabama in Birmingham.

She holds both a BA in Psychology, as well as an MA in Clinical Nutrition/Dietetics, from UA-B.

Today she is a writer, trainer, certified mental performance coach, and the founder and head coach of Block Out Volleyball Academy.

Block Out Academy’s vision is to be a training facility that welcomes all female athletes, regardless of their skill level. We are much more than just an athletic training facility, however. This is a place where girls learn how to work hard, play hard, and build a champion’s mindset.

It is Coach Nev’s passion and dedication to inspire and motivate girls to train, get better, and dream big that has created success at Block Out and turned it into a premier training community for female athletes.
